Live food is the best source of nutrition for your pet. Just like with any other animals’ diet, however, diets of live food can be made even healthier with a little bit of proper preparation.
First thing to remember is that crickets and worms need food and moisture in order to be a healthy meal for pets. Another important fact is that reptiles have vitamin and mineral requirements that are best met when live food is treated with a vitamin/mineral supplement. Studies have shown that coating live food with a vitamin/mineral supplement like Miner-All is a more effective way of making sure reptiles get the nutrition they need than “gut loading” feeder insects with a calcium/vitamin enriched food or moisture substance.
